FOUR outstanding swimmers from Werribee are on their way to the national championships next month.
Samantha Volarich, Hillary Moutia, Natalie Vercher and Mathew Warren will represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia swimming championships from 11to 16 June in Sydney.
The talented swimmers were selected as part of the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association team after their brilliant performances at the state championships last month.
Meanwhile, 12 members of Werribee Swimming Club have just returned from the Australian Swimming Championships in Sydney, with many recording encouraging results against some stiff opposition.
The club’s best results came in the open water events, in which its swimmers finished in the top 25 in six races.
Long-distance specialist Karl Pircher was fourth in the 5km under 14 event, and Leigh Ryan finished in the front half of the field in the 15-year-old boys’ competition.
