FOUR people have died on Maribyrnong’s roads since 2009.
The latest statistics released by the Transport Accident Commission showed there had been one car fatality so far this year, two last year and one in 2009.
Among the fatalities was a 24-year-old Maidstone resident who died last year after he was hit by two cars in separate hit-and-runs along Ashley St.
The man was thrown about 20 metres across the road when he was hit by the first car early Thursday morning, which did not stop.
Two men called police after spotting the victim unconscious and lying in the middle of the road about 1.20am.
While the men were calling police the victim was struck by a second car, believed to be a dark-coloured Hyundai Excel.
Meanwhile, 208 people have made claims to the TAC since 2009 after being involved in car accidents that required them to be admitted to hospital. Of those, 58 claims have been made this year alone.
