Battle of the Lakes

IT IS building as one of the highlights of the 2013 Western Region Football League season. On Saturday 20 April, Manor Lakes and Sanctuary Lakes will do battle against each other for the first time.
While the two clubs have been busy getting themselves ready for their respective debut seasons, both agree the round three clash will be something to enjoy.
“I think we can create a good rivalry once we get in the swing of things,” Sanctuary Lakes committee member Rod Davis said.
“There will be a rivalry there no doubt which is going to be a very healthy thing for both clubs. It is also good for the league and it is good for the community.
“We aren’t going to hate one another, we are hoping that they go fantastically well. I hope that they wish us well too but there will certainly be a rivalry there.”
The match is a Manor Lakes home game and will be played at Howqua Reserve.
Storm president Gary Sheppard said the contest is building as an exciting day for both clubs.
“Most home games, we want to make it a great day for our supporters and the opposition supporters so we will certainly be planning things for each home game,” Sheppard said.
“I am sure it will be a big match to see who can get the upper hand first with premiership points on the line.
“No doubt there will be a rivalry built because we are basically starting 0-0.
“It will certainly be an exciting occasion for both clubs.”
The two sides will also meet in round 14.
