Gloves on for

MEMBERS of the Rose Grange Residents’ Association are getting set to don their gloves and clear rubbish from their area on Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March.
Association spokesman Andrew Elsbury said it was hoped that 40 to 50 volunteers, including local school students, would help to clean up Skeleton and Tarneit Creeks.
He said both were littered with chip packets, bottles, cans and even building materials such as plasterboard and paint containers.
“We take pride in our area,” Mr Elsbury said.
“We live here and we want to be able to enjoy it.
“These creeks are beautiful, with native birds and native animals such as snakes, frogs and ducks.
“It’s a concern that people can treat this community asset as a rubbish dump. But I’m glad that people are willing to roll up their sleeves to restore our local environment.”
The developer of Rose Grange, the Denis Family Corporation, is the primary sponsor for the clean-up. The Bunnings store at Hoppers Crossing has donated two wheelbarrows, the Wyndham Village Coles store has donated various items and Ballan Holden is providing a ute to move rubbish to a central collection point.
The specific areas selected for the clean-up are along Skeleton Creek from Leakes Rd to Sayers Rd and Tarneit Creek from its intersection with Skeleton Creek to Derrimut Rd.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the rotunda in Duck Haven Park, on the corner of Duck Haven Place and Rose Grange Boulevard, before 9am on the day.
