MORE work is needed on transport, a vision for older people and health in Wyndham, according to the annual report card recently delivered by the community-based monitoring organisation Quality Community Plan Taskforce.
However, there’s been improvement in urban design, sense of community, recreation and sport, heritage, culture and the arts, education and skills development, local employment and business prosperity, children and families, protecting the natural environment and Wyndham’s image.
Areas that showed little change are managing growth, safety and crime prevention, cultural diversity and a vision for young people.
Wyndham mayor Kim McAliney said the report card was crucial to ensure the QCP was on the right track.
“It gives us a clear idea of where our work as a community has been successful and where we need to improve,” she said.
“The report uses activity, perception and outcome measures to determine the progress in achieving the visions set out.
“The QCP is designed to give residents a say in the long-term direction for Wyndham and actively assist in shaping our future.
“I urge residents to contact the taskforce and get involved.”
The success of the QCP has led to several councils showing interest in developing similar plans in their communities.
The QCP was first developed in 1997 by residents and stakeholders and is revised every five years, with an annual report to assess progress.
