Snaps that sparkle

AMATEUR photographers are being urged to snap their favourite spot or image of Seddon and enter the Seddon Festival’s photographic competition.
Snapshots of Seddon is being organised by Maribyrnong City Council’s All Abilities Events Team and the Seddon Community Group.
“We are including people of all abilities in the competition,” competition organiser Lara MacFarlane said.
Winning photographs last year included a lane way in Seddon and an unidentifiable naked woman crossing Charles St, Seddon in the middle of the night.
“It was staged,” Ms MacFarlane is quick to clarify with a laugh.
“You can’t see her identity – it’s not rude.”
Two workshops will be held in Harris Reserve to help people who either don’t have a camera or who need a hand.
Ms MacFarlane said workshops were also held last year, resulting in lots of pictures of the park as entries.
“There were some interesting shots of the play equipment and a lot of people entered pictures of their dogs and their washing line.
“So entries can be anything that really inspires people enjoying Seddon, enjoying where they live and celebrating the place that they live in.”
She said the competition had the dual purpose of bringing community representatives together.
Seddon traders Rakia on Earth, Project 174 and the Gravy Train Café will exhibit the snapshots with winners announced at the festival on 24 March.
The photographic workshops will be held on Saturday 24 and 27 February from 1pm to 3pm.
The competition deadline is 9 March, for more information call Lara on 9687 3231.
