A THIEF wielding a syringe threatened a Footscray man on a bus and demanded cash at 7.15pm on 25 October.
The bandit had followed the 19-year-old man from Footscray Railway Station, into Leeds St and then into Paisley St where they both boarded the bus.
The man told police he noticed he was being followed in Leeds St, and then saw the bandit catch the same bus.
The 19-year-old said the man tapped him on the shoulder during the ride and he turned round to find the man was armed with a blood-filled syringe.
He demanded cash but, when the 19-year-old said he had none, the bandit took a mobile phone, got off at Williamstown Rd, and left his victim uninjured.
The thief was 180cm tall, of medium build, about 28, wearing a cream cap and navy jacket with a stripe.
