The City West Water program will renew certain water mains as part of an initiative to maintain the highly reliable supply of water to the area.
The renewal works are being carried out in stages over three months from Monday, 28 May.
The program involves replacing the water mains in Rosamond Rd, Ballarat Rd and Gordon St in Footscray.
The first section undergoing renewal will be Rosamond Rd between Mitchell and Ballarat roads. The works will then progress to Ballarat Rd, Gordon St and finish up at the Whitten Oval in Footscray.
The works have been planned to minimise the impact on residents and will be undertaken outside peak traffic hours.
Affected residents were told of the works through a letter drop last month.
