A 16-YEAR-OLD boy last week pleaded guilty to the 2010 murder of Nitin Garg.
The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of attempted armed robbery in the Supreme Court last week.
Last year, the teenager’s accomplice was sentenced to 18 months probation after agreeing to testify against his friend in a trial.
Nitin Garg left Yarraville train station around 9.30pm on 2 January and was walking through Cruickshank Park on his way to work at fast food outlet Hungry Jack’s when he was stabbed in the stomach.
The 21-year-old Newport resident managed to stagger across Somerville Rd to his workplace, bleeding and pleading for help.
He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he later died.
The attack sparked outrage throughout the Australian Indian community and across the world.
