WERRIBEE’S resident rock star has managed to make the most of his 15 minutes of fame, creating a career that he could never have dreamed of.
Jimmy Cupples was thrust into the limelight after the 46-year-old rocker appeared on the hit television talent show The Voice.
Cupples sent social networking site Twitter into overdrive when he referred to Werribee as the place “where all the rich people live”.
While he made it past the first two rounds, Jimmy was unable to convince mentor Keith Urban to take him further on the show.
“Almost everything that happened to me on that show made me feel a bit held back and I don’t think I really got to show my full abilities,” Cupples told Star.
“But I’ve always been that kind of guy that the cup is half full and I got to do my thing.”
Since appearing on the show, Jimmy has had contract offers from record companies and is finalising an Australia-wide tour next year.
“I’m really happy that I went on the show and all this tells me that what I did was enough to make an impression,” he said.
“I said to myself before the show that if nothing comes out of it I’ll take a back seat but too much is coming from it to do that.”
The father of four thanked everyone from Wyndham that voted for him and said they can expect to see a lot more of him in the future.
