WYNDHAM drivers do not seem to be getting the message that dangerous driving is a recipe for disaster, according to recent police detections.
Senior Constable Graeme Crouch from the Wyndham Highway Patrol said a booze bus set up on Heaths Rd in Wyndham Vale earlier this month caught four people over the legal blood alcohol limit.
“(The) first was a 35-year-old Wyndham Vale man who tried to avoid the bus and and walk away from his car. He was quickly detected by police,” Sen Const Crouch said.
“He recorded a reading of 0.118.”
“Next was a 30-year-old Learner from Mt Egerton who recorded a reading of 0.026.The Legal limit for a Learner is 0.00.”
Perhaps, the most disturbing cases of drink driving involved a 41-year-old Wyndham Vale woman, who was caught with a reading of 0.104.
To make matters worse, she had a nine-year-old child in the back seat of her car at the time.
In another incident, a Sydney man was nabbed going more than 60 kilometres over the speed limit on Wednesday 13 July.
He was detected travelling towards the city on the Princes Freeway in Werribee at 165 kilometres in a 100 km zone.
“He told police he was running late for a family get together,” Sen Const Crouch said.
“He was fined $611 had his licence suspended for 12 months and had his car impounded.”
Sen Const Matthew Wilson said he could not believe the stupidity of the driver at this time of the day with the traffic volume as high as it was.
If anyone witnesses a hoon driver, they should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
