WERRIBEE’S Division One men’s side had a 71-54 win against local rivals Altona in round 17 of the Big V competition on Sunday.
Altona got the jump on Werribee and was 22-16 up in the first quarter, but the Devils scored 22 points to Altona’s 10 in the second to claim back the ascendancy.
Werribee built on its lead in the second half to win its second game on the trot and move up to eighth on the ladder.
Joshua Oswald top scored for Werribee with 14 points, with Kristian Rocci (10), Andrew Johnston (9), Justin Ward (8) and Jordan Hughes (8) also handy under the basket.
Justin Ward had three defensive rebounds and six overall, and effected three turnovers in a superb performance.
For Altona, James Guljas scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds.
In the final round of the home-and-away season this weekend, Werribee will take on La Trobe at home on Saturday night and Altona will play Geelong away on Sunday afternoon.
