POLICE are “keeping an open mind” on a potential link between the drug bust at St Albans property on Thursday and a violent burglary in the same block of flats in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A male occupant was bashed and a woman and her two daughters terrorised by three armed men, who burst into their flat around 12.30am. The offenders wore balaclavas, and one carried a sawn-off rifle.
The trio ransacked the house and demanded property, before assaulting the 28-year-old male victim and escaping with a large amount of cash, jewellery and a laptop. The female occupant and her daughters, aged 10 and 7, were unhurt.
Armed Crime Taskforce Detective Acting Sergeant, Alan Jephcott, said police had arrested three men, aged 41, 36 and 24, just streets away from the property.
Det Act Sgt Jephcott said police had not ruled out a potential link between the two crimes in the same area.
“An item of property has been recovered from the burglary, and we’re waiting for results from forensic evidence recovered,” he said.
