Passport to success

A WERRIBEE band is taking their first steps to stardom – and they sure are excited.
Passport for Amy recently won the Hobsons Bay Battle of the Bands and will compete in the Western Regional finals.
Ben Williams, the band’s drummer, said the members of the Indie Rock band liked nothing more than performing on stage.
“It just more or less takes you into a whole different world,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to getting out there.”
The winners of the regional finals will compete for the grand prize on stage at the annual Push Over Festival in March 2011 at the Abbotsford Convent.
Councillor Glenn Goodfellow, who is on the Youth Task Force, said competitions like Battle of the Bands gave young people invaluable opportunities.
“The competition has provided opportunities for young musicians to gain valuable experience as performers and receive support from music industry professionals,” he said.
Ben said the band was committed to making it big professionally.
“All our parents are really supportive, they know that this is what makes us happy and that it’s our passion,” he said.
