THE donation that could save many lives was presented from one volunteer organisation to another last week.
The Werribee Lions Club presented the Truganina Fire Brigade with an Automated External Defibrillator at a dinner and handover presentation at the Truganina Fire Station.
Werribee Lions President Bruce Hudgson said it was a logical and positive way to help another volunteer organisation.
Community Liaison Officer for the Brigade Graham Abbott said the donation brought the two organisations together and helped both parties further understand and respect the contribution each makes to the community of Wyndham.
“The contribution of the AED to the brigade by Lions is a wonderful example of co-operation between two volunteer organisations, both serving the community to produce an outcome that benefits ever person that lives and works in Wyndham,” said Mr Abbott.
The donation was accepted by Brigade Captain Colleen Goodfellow on behalf of the community.
“The donation of the Automated External Defibrillator is a donation not only to the Fire Brigade, but also to the whole community of Tarneit and Truganina,” she said.
The vital addition to the brigade and the community will come with many benefits.
Volunteer firefighter and professional nurse Paul Townsend said the AED would assist firefighters even further when dealing with different situations.
“From a medical point of view, this AED will assist the brigade in providing another facet of our service to the community; going beyond our primary role as firefighters and assisting us in dealing with the wide range of situations we encounter on a daily basis,” Mr Townsend said.
