LAUREN Douglas will be stepping in the right direction this weekend when she takes part in the Bupa Take Steps for Good Health fun run.
The Werribee resident will be taking to the TheTan at the Royal Botanical Gardens on Sunday 1 December, to help inspire others to take a step towards a healthier lifestyle.
“I started running a couple of years ago, but just casually for fun,” Lauren said.
Lauren, who will be taking part in the 4 km run category, aspires to run longer distances and take part in more running events in the future.
“It’s a good way to ease my way into it,” Lauren said.
She hopes her participation will encourage others to also give it a go.
“Everyone can see me participate and think if Lauren can do it hopefully I can do it to.”
Take Steps for Good Health is about inspiring Victorians to take small, long-term steps towards good health.
The event will help raise funds for Diabetes Australia, helping specifically with diabetes kid’s camps and medical research.
The summer and good health festival will also include Summer’s Healthiest Picnic with live cooking demonstration, health and wellness stalls and a heap of entertainment for the family.
Take Steps ambassador and leading nutritionist, Dr Joanna McMillan will be there to give healthy lifestyle insights.
“Summer is a great motivator to grab your family or friends and do something active together,” Dr McMillan said.
