WORK has finally started on the clean-up and redevelopment of one of Brimbank’s most dilapidated areas, the Sunshine North industrial estate.
Essential services such as roads, footpaths, sewer mains and water mains will be installed throughout the estate, in the area bounded by Whitehill Avenue, the railway line, the Maribyrnong River, Western Ring Road and McIntyre Road.
The majority of the work will be paid for through a special charge levied on property owners in the industrial area.
The redevelopment is expected to cost about $18 million and take up to three years.
Work on stage one of the project began last week, and the council expects this stage to be completed by November.
