RESIDENTS are encouraged to discuss issues faced by local people with a disability at forums being held by Maribyrnong City Council on 21 and 22 March.
The forums are part of the council’s review of the 2004-2007 Disability Policy and Action Plan and the MetroAccess Community Building Plan.
The council is committed to making recreation opportunities and public spaces more accessible to disabled people.
The council also advocates for changes to take place among organisations and businesses to make their facilities more accessible.
The 21 March forum will be held from 9.30am to 11.30am, at the reception room, Maribyrnong Council offices, corner Hyde and Napier streets, Footscray. Morning tea will be provided. The 22 March forum will be held from 6pm to 8pm at Yarraville Senior Citizens Centre, 48 Fehon St, Yarraville, with a sausage sizzle provided.
