Paper people praise Park

LOMBARD the Paper People now calls Keilor Park home.
The brand new national headquarters, featuring blue walls and bright red pillars replicating the sculptures along the Tullamarine Freeway, was officially opened last Thursday applauded by more than 200 guests.
The $15 million two-storey building, nicknamed The Big Blue stands on Harrick Rd.
The company’s move from the base in Flemington, which was destroyed by a fire in November 2004, was welcomed by Andre Haermeyer, the Minister for Small Business.
He said the move into Keilor Park “confirms that Brimbank is the engine room of jobs growth in Victoria”.
“It really says that Brimbank and the western suburbs is the place to be if you’re in business,” Mr Haermeyer said.
Owner Claude Lombard, whose parents first opened the home-based business in 1967, said he chose Keilor Park as a base because of the area being the junction of so many freeways.
Ten months ago, the land on which his new base stands was was nothing but a paddock.
Mr Lombard said the move into Keilor Park felt like he had “never been anywhere else”.
“A highlight of the day, at six o’clock at night, is when I look through my window and see the sun going down and all the rabbits coming out.
“It’s just the most beautiful spot,” Mr Lombard said, adding that the local people have warmly welcomed the company.
“We support every community activity, that’s what we believe in.
“The local community is where your customer base is. We’ll be part of this suburb as well,” Mr Lombard said.
He employs more than 100 staff across Australia and distributes products for packaging, parties and major events.
