Vikings sail through to finals unbeaten

ALTONA is the hot favourite to snare backtoback premierships in Division Two of the Western Region Football League after finishing on top of the ladder after the final round on Saturday.
The Vikings finished two games clear and remained undefeated, giving them the perfect springboard for another finals campaign and possible promotion to Division One in 2006.
Impressively, Altona took on flag hopeful Braybrook, which finished the season in third place, on Saturday but was hardly troubled after quartertime and finished with a clinical 63point victory.
The Vikings had plenty of options up forward and set up the win with five goals in the second term to lead by 32 points at the main break, before using the second half to pile on more goals.
Albanvale will take confidence into the finals this week after it dispatched Deer Park by 46 points and secured the double chance with a fourthplaced finish.
Lorrence Farmer and Jared Charter enjoyed memorable afternoons in front of goals, proving the difference between the two sides on the scoreboard with six and five goals respectively. The Cobras led by four points at halftime before an eightgoal third term blew Deer Park out of the water and resigned it to ninth on the table.
West Footscray has put its hand up to challenge Altona after it comfortably took care of Glenorden by 22 points. Steven Lane took his season tally to 106 with another bag of six goals as the Roosters used the second and third quarters to gain the ascendancy and eventually hold onto the four points.
Central Altona also tasted victory in the last round and will be looking to make an impression in the finals defeating Sunshine Heights in a highscoring encounter by 36 points.
Robert Greto booted nine goals in a standalone performance for Sunshine Heights – his thirdhighest bag this season – but his efforts were matched at the other end by Shane Jeka, who posted eight majors for his side.
North Footscray scored the upset of the round when it defeated finalist Wyndhamvale by 27 points.
The Falcons scraped into the finals with an offcolour performance, trailing at every change despite having three more scoring shots for the afternoon.
In other games, Coburg Districts thrashed Gladstone Park by 47 points and Brunswick Power posted a 16point win in the battle of the cellar dwellers against Brunswick Power, which finished the season without a win.
