A SIX-goal win over the Western Magpies firmed Albanvale in third place on the Western Region Football League Division Two ladder.
The Cobras were behind all day, but ran harder in the final term as they piled on eight goals to claim a 38-point win and move two games clear of Deer Park.
For Albanvale, Athol Jetta kicked three goals, while Tyrone Kelso also grabbed three for the Magpies.
Albanvale faces its biggest test this week, lining up against ladder leader North Footscray in what should be an entertaining match between two of the league heavyweights.
North Footscray had a big win against the young Wyndhamvale Falcons line-up, with the percentage boost helping propel the team to the top of the ladder.
The Falcons, coming off their first win last week, were unable to manage a goal for the game, and will play Coburg Districts this week.
Sunshine Heights thumped Deer Park by 84 points, but it was not enough to keep North Footscray off the top of the ladder.
After a tight first half, Braybrook kicked out to win against Coburg Districts by 35 points.
Braybrook’s nine-goal third term sank the Districts, with Mark Sophoulis kicking five for the victors.
Parkside thumped North Sunshine to move to sixth on the ladder, one game out of the top five.
Parkside’s forward line functioned well, racking up 19 majors, nine of which off the boot of Patty Davis.
This week Parkside faces the Western Magpies in a must-win game for both sides, with the loser falling two games behind the top five.
