FEMALE soccer players now have access to portable change rooms at the McKechnie Reserve in St Albans.
The reserve is home to the Westvale Olympic Soccer Club and the two senior female soccer teams have not played at the reserve for the past two years because of a lack of a separate facilities for women players, as required by the Football Federation Victoria (FFV).
Brimbank City Council committed $76,000 in the 2007-08 budget for portable changing rooms to be installed at the site for one season, but the keys were only handed over last week — about three months after the season started.
The council’s draft budget, handed down on Tuesday night, includes $540,000 for a pavilion upgrade at the reserve, which will see permanent female change rooms built as part of the project.
