PRIME Minister Julia Gillard has insisted that Wyndham’s school teachers and students can expect to have one computer per student by the end of this year.
As reported in Star earlier this year, at schools like Point Cook Senior Secondary College (PCSSC) up to seven students were sharing one computer.
PCSSC had grown from 97 students to more than 690 in just a few years making it more difficult to achieve the goal of a computer for every pupil.
Earlier this month though, Ms Gillard said the computers in schools policy was on track to deliver its promise by the end of the year.
“More than 3583 computers have been delivered to schools in Lalor, with thousands of students already benefiting from these new facilities,” Ms Gillard said.
“These computers are already changing the way our students learn and collaborate with each other, helping to provide the necessary skills for Australia’s 21st century economy.”
