FIVE energetic Werribee men have their sights set on stardom as they dish out funky beats, but the members of Masketta Falls know they need to take it one show at a time.
The pop rock band made up of Benjamin “Big Red” James, Daniel “Mol” Molivas, Braden “FayBanger” Ross, Ryan Spilla and Jamie Rolph, will be performing at this weekend’s Weerama Festival.
Mr James told Star his band was one of the only pop bands to come out of Werribee in recent years.
“The western suburbs are more indie rock. We’re very happy to be a totally different band to everything else that’s out there,” Mr James said. “We know that on a bigger scale there is a pop market for us out there.”
The band, whose names meaning is apparently tied up in a story too long to be revealed, has recently had success in battle of the bands competitions and the Pushover Festival.
“We’re working hard now and we definitely have dreams of international success,” Mr James said.
“We obviously want to make it big but we know that it’s small steps for now.” Mr James said the band was known for its energy and enthusiasm, as well as a shark mascot who meets and greets fans during their shows.
The Weerama festival will take place in Watton St in Werribee this weekend. Masketta Falls will also be playing at the Moomba Festival on 12 March. For more information on the band visit www.maskettafalls.com.au.
