WITH the drought restrictions slowly killing gardens, residents are reminded to help save the future of trees on nature strips.
Brimbank City Council is calling on residents to help water the trees on their nature strips by using two buckets of water twice a week.
On a daily program, the council uses water tankers and waters avenues of trees, including those in reserves and roundabouts.
A total of 1700 trees are planted a year under the street tree infill program.
The council also has a 4500-litre tank, which it uses to water trees with stormwater.
