CHILDREN from Caroline Springs College were given a quick course in emergency services last week, with firemen, police and even lifesavers visiting the school to teach children about who they should contact in an emergency.
Representatives from Victoria Police, the Country Fire Authority, Life Saving Victoria, the Ambulance Service and the SES brought their trucks, their stretchers and sirens to the college last week as part of a roving tour of schools in the Melton Shire.
Senior Constable Mark Zerafa, from Caroline Springs police station, said the children had a great time learning about emergency services and interacting with various emergency crews and apparatuses.
They participated in hands on safety activities and were taught about personal and community safety.
The visit to Caroline SpringsCollege was part of Emergency Services Awarenesss for Kids week.
“They absolutely loved it,” Sen Const Zerafa told Star.
Last year was the first time the emergency services tour travelled around Melton, and according to Sen Const Zerafa the success of this year’s tour will ensure it returns next year.
