SARAHBonnier, the new electorate officer for the Western Metropolitan MP Bernie Finn, is able to relax after questions about her 457 visa were answered.
Ms Bonnier arrived in Australia from Canada to work at the Liberal MP’s office on a 457 visa, which the Legislative Council president, Labor MP Bob Smith, queried recently.
Mr Smith said the Victorian Parliament was the employer of MPs’ electorate officers and, therefore, Ms Bonnier’s employment contract and 457 visa application needed to be signed off by the Legislative Council president.
