A WYNDHAM Vale teenager will have the opportunity to live out a lifelong dream next month when she takes part in an exciting program.
Michelle Forsyth will be swapping her school books for her flute when she joins the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for a day.
As a participant in the Symphony in a Day program, the 18-year-old will spend a day rehearsing with fellow amateur musicians before performing in front of the public.
The concert will be conducted by the MSO’s Benjamin Northey and will feature classic orchestral pieces of music.
Ms Forsyth, a university student and a master of the flute, said she was excited to be a part of the program.
“I’m super stoked,” Ms Forsyth said.
“The MSO are amazing and they are made up of such talented musicians, I feel like I’m going to be able to learn a lot from the day.”
MSO Education Manager, Bronwyn Lobb, said more than 300 applications were received for the program.
“We were overwhelmed by the flood of applications we received for this year’s program and we can’t wait to create music with a whole new group of musicians,” Ms Lobb said.
“Each musician involved in Symphony in a Day has their own special story and connection to the MSO, and that is what this program is all about – people from all walks of life coming together to share their love of orchestral music.”
Symphony in a Day will be held on Saturday 1 June. For more information visit www.mso.com.au
