A SCIENTIST working for the Defence Department has said his unique set of skills could benefit Wyndham.
Doctor Chang Choi, known simply as Choi to his friends, moved to Tarneit more than five years ago before moving to Truganina.
It did not take long for the South Korean born scientist and former CEO to start noticing the problems facing his new home.
“I wake up at 5am every day and any time I walked outside I saw the traffic on Morris Road is always really banked up,” Dr Choi said.
“I thought maybe it was just Morris Rd but then I saw that Leakes Rd, Derrimut Rd and Point Cook Rd are all the same.
“The traffic is just unbelievably bad.”
Dr Choi has nominated himself for a place on Wyndham Council, representing the Harrison Ward.
“I think that the previous councillors did not show enough effort and they have just allowed the growth to get out of control,” he said.
“The growth needs to be controlled properly, step by step.”
Dr Choi, a father of two young girls, said the biggest issues residents had raised with him were traffic and safety.
He said if elected he would strongly advocate for upgrades to Wyndham’s satellite roads and for an additional route to Melbourne.
