Community called on for new art

WHAT does your community mean to you’
That’s the question the Yellow Pages is asking budding Melbourne artists as it gives them the opportunity to design the front cover of its 2011 Living Local edition.
The Art About Town competition is open to all students in years 10 to 12 who are enrolled in school, TAFE or an independent institution listed in the Yellow Pages Living Local North Western Region.
Entrants need to submit a 2D design that explains what their community means to them. The entry can be done in any style.
Shortlisted entrants will have their work featured in a public exhibition and online gallery, where the community will be encouraged to vote for their favourite piece.
The artwork with the most community votes will win the cover of next year’s Living Local edition and up to $2000 for an arts course.
All entries must be submitted by 29 October. To find out more, visit www.artabouttown.com.au
