SEDDON resident Victor Phillips took his first steps into the world of photography during a family trip across the globe two years ago.
The 14-year-old has since developed quite an impressive level of skill in his chosen art and was recently recognised with The Pixel Prize in the Digital Darkroom category after he submitted a photo of his neighbourhood.
The Pixel Prize is a photography competition run by Australian Catholic University for emerging photographers.
‘I was surprised I won. There were quite a lot of other good photos there,’ Victor said.
The Year 8 Footscray City College student said he most enjoyed taking photos of the environment.
Victor’s winning photo shows his friends in the reflection of a pair of sunglasses.
‘We were just sort of mucking around with my camera. It came out quite interesting.
‘In this photo, the gold-rimmed sunnies found in our rear lane represent the older generation looking over the younger generation.’
