HOPPERS Crossing’s Bethany Hodge was close to tears when she found out she would be going to university to study for her dream career.
The 18-year-old said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she received a first round offer earlier this month to study a Bachelor of Archaeology at La Trobe University.
“I was close to tears because I thought there was a possibility of me not getting in, so when I got the offer I was just so happy,” Ms Hodge said.
Ms Hodge said she was excited to start studying in a field she had always been interested in.
“I love history more than anything and I just find it fascinating,” she said.
“It’s my passion.”
And while she is glad to be finished with Year 12 and all the studying that goes along with VCE, the former Westbourne Grammar student said she was looking forward to what university could teach her.
“I think I’m most excited about the independence,” she said.
“I hate learning stuff that I don’t care about so now all my subjects will be history based.”
Ms Hodge said she would ultimately like to work in Egypt, a country she has been obsessed with since she was just four-years-old.
