Motorcyclist dies

A motorcyclist has died after hitting a power pole at Hoppers Crossing on Saturday.
The 44-year-old male rider was travelling along Virgilia Dve when he lost control on a bend at the intersection of Bottlebrush Dve and crashed into the pole about 4.35pm.
Despite the best effort of paramedics the Hoppers Crossing man died at the scene.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Meanwhile, detectives charged a 27-year-old man following an alleged hit-run incident in Werribee early Saturday morning.
The Hoppers Crossing man was charged with fail to stop at the scene of an accident with serious injury and fail to render assistance.
He was bailed by police to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 29 April.
The charges relate to an incident where a 27-year-old Point Cook man was allegedly struck by a car while crossing Synnot Street about 4am.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital but was released this afternoon.
A 23-year-old Werribee man was taken into custody but was released pending further enquiries.
