Coaching panel gets revamp

By Daniel Paproth
The experienced Wade Chapman has joined the Werribee Tigers’ new look coaching panel for season 2011.
Chapman played 51 games for the Sydney Swans and more recently led Bellarine Football League club Drysdale Hawks as playing senior coach, to back-to-back premierships in 2009-10 after a 24-year drought.
But in 2011 Chapman was looking for a fresh challenge and found Werribee too good an offer to pass up.
“I’m really enjoying my time down here,” Chapman said.
“I wanted to develop my coaching at a high level and standard and I’m grateful that the Werribee Football Club has given me that chance.
“The club and coach, Paul Satterley, have been very accommodating.”
Chapman comes on board as a midfield coach, and is looking forward to working with not only club stalwarts such as Rob Castello and Dom Gleeson, but the up-and-coming midfield brigade, who are fit and firing.
It was a disappointing season for the Tigers in 2010, with only four wins and a draw, but Chapman is confident looking ahead at 2011.
“I’ve been down here since the first pre-season training session and the boys are training hard, putting in during the practice matches, getting ready to get into the real stuff,” he said.
“They only won four games last year, but it’s a young list so we’ll be looking to really build upon that.
“It’s a good list and the boys are willing. They’re training hard and we’re all really looking forward to season 2011.”
