Building starts on

WORK began last week on the $100 million Point Cook town centre.
Up to 90 shops, including Coles, Target and Aldi, will provide a badly needed focal point for the rapidly growing area.
The project, to be built on the corner of Boardwalk Blvd and Dunnings Rd, will include a main street design, featuring strip shopping, meandering laneways and public art.
It will also have space for offices and medium-density housing. VicUrban, the State Government’s development arm, will build the project in partnership with the Walker Corporation.
The 12.7-hectare project will serve more than 50,000 local residents and thousands more in the wider community.
The first section of the two-stage project is expected to open late next year.
The project is expected to generate more than 700 construction jobs and 400 permanent retail jobs.
