Fish hooked on comedy

By Christine de Kock
COMEDIAN Sam Hryckow, better known as Mr Fish, will be one of the star attractions at the Powercor Greater Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry awards night.
The event is organised to acknowledge the achievements of businesses in the western suburbs.
It brings together representatives from emerging businesses and those which have become major players in the international arena – and Star is one of the corporate sponsors.
Mr Hryckow will not only act as Master of Ceremonies at the awards but will perform.
He is best known for his unicycle act, which involves juggling plastic goldfish, a routine he has performed to rousing applause in Europe and South East Asia.
“I couldn’t do a straight act to save my life,” Mr Hryckow joked.
“I used to drop things a lot as a juggler, and I figured the best way to survive was to turn my routine into a comedy act”.
Mr Hryckow, presently performing with Circus Royale, did not want to give away too many details of his performance but said the people who attended the awards night could expect a ‘good laugh’ when it came to his unicycle act.
A Brazilian band will also liven the night’s proceedings by performing during the fourcourse, silver service dinner and at the close of the awards ceremony.
