NOMINATIONS have opened for the 5th annual Above and Beyond Awards.
In making the announcement, Member for Lalor and Labor Deputy Leader, Julia Gillard, pointed to the proud history of the awards, which were established to recognise committed local residents who are considered to go above and beyond their call of duty.
“This general award is a fantastic way of recognising the wonderful contribution some residents make to our community by going that extra mile, time and time again,” she said.
“Over the years, I have met many wonderful local residents and award recipients from schools and service groups, sporting and arts organisations.
“We are fortunate in our local area to have so many devoted residents whose support keeps businesses and organisations such as our community centres, schools, theatres, newspapers, sporting clubs and aged care facilities alive and vibrant.
“Once again it’s time to acknowledge these significant contributions and nominate somebody you know who truly goes above and beyond.”
Nominations for the 2007 Above and Beyond Awards will close on June 8.
