Season on the line for Seagulls

WILLIAMSTOWN is fast running out of time to be involved in this year’s Victorian Football League (VFL) finals after falling to Frankston on Saturday.
Several senior Seagulls regulars were missing, and the team failed to get the points in what was an important game in the context of its season.
Williamstown must now win matches against North Ballarat and Tasmania coming home to have a chance of playing off in the finals, which begin at the end of the month.
Inform Ben Davies returned to the Collingwood team, with Harry O’Brien, Heath Shaw and Jason Cloke also retaining spots in the Australian Football League, paving the way for Matthew Lokan to play a starring role for the Seagulls with four goals.
Williamstown stayed in the contest for the first three quarters and trailed by three points at the final change, before the Dolphins piled on nine goals in a dominant finish.
Meanwhile, Werribee has leapt back to the top of the VFL ladder after dispatching bottomplaced Geelong by 47 points at Chirnside Park on Sunday.
Patrick Bowden was the star for the Tigers, his sevengoal effort enough to see his side over the line in tough conditions.
A typically fast start was again the hallmark of the win for Werribee, which had the game wrapped up by halftime when it led by 60 points after a 13goal first half.
Big men Daniel Bandy and Jade Rawlings also found touch ahead of Werribee’s minor premiership battle with the Northern Bullants this week at Preston City Oval.
