STAFF at Maribyrnong City Council shared smiles all round after winning a Planning Excellence Commendation Award.
The Planning Institute of Australia rewarded council under the Urban Design Category for its Maddern Square project.
It showed “excellence in innovation, delivering a unique urban design outcome, and making a significant contribution towards improving sustainability and community well-being of central Footscray”.
Mayor Janet Rice said the council was pleased to receive the commendation from the national planning institute. “We’ve been spending a lot of effort and resources to improve central Footscray, and it’s good to have the high standard of our work recognised,” she said.
The Maddern Square upgrade was completed in July for $890,000.
