COMMUNITY radio station WynFM has been on the airwaves for almost two decades and they want to be on air for many decades to come.
The volunteer based project, which was established in 1995, has seen WynFm obtain a permanent broadcasting license since 2001.
President Amber Templeton said WynFm played an important role in the community.
“The purpose of community radio is to provide an alternative voice that is not out there in mainstream media,” Ms Templeton said.
“And for Wyndham having that alternative voice is very important,” she said.
To help support the continued growth of the radio station, WynFM are having a trivia night fundraiser in November.
Ms Templeton said the fundraiser was a significant source of income for the station.
“WynFm is community radio station, our main sources of income are basically grants, sponsorship and membership and that’s it,” she said.
“We are there for the Wyndham community but without support we won’t be here.”
Ms Templeton said the night would be full of fun and entertainment.
The line-up includes local identity Kevin Hillier as MC, Trivia Master John Fastuca and a performance by local comedian Matt Portelli.
The station will also launch their new website and the official rebranding and new logo.
“It’s just going to be an action packed night filled from the moment you walk in to the end,” Ms Templeton said.
Tickets are $10 each and tables are for 10 people.
To secure a seat email wynfm@wynfm.org.au by 1 November.
