Jets crash in Ranges

By Luke Sheehan
THE Western Jets suffered their second consecutive TAC Cup loss on Sunday at Princes Park, going down to the Eastern Ranges by 34 points.
The final score saw the Ranges triumph 15.23.113 to the Jets’ 12.7.79.
The Jets put in a solid effort for three quarters, but lost the game in the premiership quarter, according to coach Steve Kretiuk.
“We won about three quarters,” he said.
“But unfortunately, we just had half a side that didn’t come out after half time and play their roles or maintain their intensity in the game, and they (Eastern Ranges) ended up kicking eight goals.
“That was pretty much the ball game.”
Kretiuk said concentration would be on the minds of the Jets players at training this week.
“We’ll just keep working on it, it’s a skill in itself concentration, but all in all, I think it was a better performance than last week.
“We just have to keep rotating guys in our side who really want to play our way and play our structures and play their roles in the side.”
The former Bulldog said his side lost its structure around the stoppages.
“We lost our way around the stoppages in the third quarter, or maybe in the second half.
“I don’t think we got our stances right, and allowed the opposition some easy outlets from our stoppage work, and from our defensive work.”
Best for the Jets were Adam Kennedy, Elliot Kavanagh and Dylan Jones, with Kennedy booting three majors for his side.
Kretiuk said he would be push-ing his side to play out the full game this week against the Oakleigh Chargers.
“We’ve played two quality teams in the last two weeks, and another quality team this week, so hopefully we can try to put together four quarters this week.”
