WYNDHAM City Council’s CEO Ian Robins is retiring after 37 years in local government.
Mr Robins, 57, has been Chief Executive Officer at Wyndham since 1995, overseeing the management of an operating budget of more than $165 million and net assets of $1 billion.
He was first appointed as director of engineering at the City of Werribee in 1994 and has qualifications in civil engineering, urban planning and industrial management.
Mr Robins won Australia’s premier public works engineering award, the Keith H. Wood Medal, in 2005.
He was presented with the medal at the Public Works Engineering Australia International Conference and was the first Victorian to receive it.
The medal recognises outstanding service to local government engineering based on research, industry development, advocacy, education and training, and best practice initiatives.
Wyndham, with a population of more than 122,000, is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Victoria and the third-fastest in Australia.
Councillors are united in thanks for Mr Robins’ service and say he will be sorely missed.
Advertisements for his position appeared in news outlets last weekend.
