WYNDHAM’S early voting centre is not very central at all.
Located in an industrial estate off Old Geelong Rd in Hoppers Crossing, the Elm Drive centre handles advance voters from both Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.
But some early voters say it is difficult to find and is not close to any public transport.
About 150 to 200 people a day are voting in advance of this week’s 25 November election, says Tarneit election manager Mary Noonan.
Victorian Election Commission communication manager Sue Lang said the VEC tried to find central and accessible venues for each of its 77 early voting centres in the state.
“We have to do the best job we can for 3.5 million voters and it isn’t always possible to find central venues with short-term leases,” she said.
Early voters have until 6pm on 24 November to cast their ballot in person.
About 1600 polling booths will be open around Victoria on 25 November from 8am-6pm.
