Psaila’s presidential comeback at Saints

MICHAEL Psaila is back at the helm of St Albans Football Club, voted in as president at the club’s annual general meeting last week.
Psaila replaces Eddie Bender, who led the club for three years and stepped down to pursue business opportunities.
Psaila was elected unopposed, returning to the presidency he held for five years during 1997-2002.
When he first took over St Albans was in Division Two of the Western Region Football League, and his five-year plan to bring the club success was met perfectly.
By 2001 the Saints lifted the trophy in Division One, and have figured prominently in the finals ever since.
This year, under new coach Ryan Pagan, St Albans was one of the stand-outs in the home and away season before injuries and suspensions saw it bow out honourably in the elimination final.
Pagan will again lead the senior group and, along with the reintroduction of Psaila, the club is hoping to emulate the efforts of 2001.
Members present at the annual general meeting also paid homage to club legend, inaugural coach and team of the century member Stan Taylor, who died this year, with a minute’s silence.
