Rhythm to rule

ORGANISERS are counting down to this year’s Weerama Festival, and are hoping the annual Wyndham celebration will be the biggest and best yet.
The theme for the 2007 festival is “Let the Rhythm Flow.”
With big name acts including Aussie rockers Cotton, Keays and Morris, popular tribute band Kisstroyer and Beatles’ tribute group Where’s Ringo?, the street entertainment is among the best yet.
There’s also plenty for the kids, with a children’s picnic, skateboard competitions and clinics, local bands playing loud and live, and concerts for school children by the Australian Navy Band.
The big day is Sunday 25 March starting at 10am with the annual Great Australian Dunny Race, where people race toilets on wheels down Watton St.
The Weerama Procession kicks off at 11am.
It will feature dozens of colourful floats from various groups, clubs and schools parading down Watton St, accompanied by the music of some of the region’s best marching bands.
Residents who have never been to Weerama before are in for a treat.
The action starts on Thursday 22 March and runs right through the weekend.
