DETHRONED Wyndhamvale coach Brett Cook has declared he wants to continue coaching next year despite the messy end to his tenure at the Falcons’ top post.
Cook was sacked by the Falcons a month ago and replaced by Scott Crawford.
Cook said the club believed he was taking the club in the wrong direction, but has diplomatically stated that the move could be best for both parties.
Cook, 35, has returned to home club Yarraville-Seddon as a player for the remainder of the 2007 season, but expressed his desire to take up a senior coaching role next year.
“The club believed they were going in a different direction to where they wanted to be going,” Cook said.
“They felt I was taking them in the wrong direction, which is a little disappointing.
“I broke my thumb this year and wasn’t playing, and now I have been moved along, I guess.
“I’m back down at Yarraville-Seddon at the moment having a kick with my brother.
“It will be until the end of the year then I’ll have a look and see what else is around.
“I am a little bit disappointed with what happened, but at the same time it could be for the best.”
Crawford has already said he would apply for the Wyndhamvale coaching position at season’s end.
He has got an improvement out of the side since taking up the role, the Falcons getting to with 13 points of Sunshine Heights on Saturday and defeating the finals-bound Albanvale three weeks ago.
“I’ve enjoyed it and I think the spirit is back at the club,” Crawford said.
“I’m keen to keep doing it next year so I’ll apply for it at the end of the year.”
