Something to smile for

By Karen Poh
BABY Hannah Formosa’s pout gave many people a reason to smile, thanks to trigger-happy Keilor mum Melissa Formosa.
“My daughter was sitting there pulling all these faces. I thought it was quite funny and so I pulled out the camera and took some shots,” she said.
“It was through an advertisement in the local paper that I found out about the Smile with Centro competition and I just thought it’d be a bit of fun.”
The Keilor community photography competition attracted more than 22,000 photo entries last year, and the proud mum came close to the $10,000 cash prize, emerging as a finalist in the competition.
She’ll be taking part again this year, but she’ll have to sort through the numerous photographs in her archive, said Mrs Formosa.
The competition, said Centro Keilor’s marketing manager, Victoria Brockett, “is all about giving people an opportunity to make others smile and that is our ultimate aim.
“We are encouraging local residents to come together and share their magic moments and show the rest of Australia that Keilor Downs has plenty to smile about,” she said.
The competition will run at 59 Centro shopping centres throughout Australia and the national winner will be announced on 24 August.
The top 20 local photographs will be exhibited at Centro Keilor between 13 and 31 August.
Photographs can be entered at www.smilewithcentro.com.au, and entry forms are available at participating Centro shopping centres until 27 July.
