STUDENTS from several Wyndham schools are proud of their efforts in raising $4390.50 for the Variety Club charity.
The schools held various fund raising events, including casual dress days and lolly raffles, in a project Variety hopes to extend state-wide.
The cheque was presented to singer Mike Brady, a Variety supporter, at the Derrimut Heath Primary School, Hoppers Crossing, last week.
The school’s acting assistant principal, Sue Falla, described the project as “wonderful”.
“The student leaders from schools across Wyndham have worked together towards helping others in the community,” she said.
“It has provided an opportunity to lead and grow as leaders of the future.”
The other schools involved were Glen Orden, Thomas Chirnside, Woodville, Boardwalk, The Grange, both campuses, and Carranballic College, both campuses.
Mike Brady had the children jumping with excitement with his renditions of One Day In September and Up There Cazaly, which he changed to Up There Wyndham.
Another highlight was the schools’ student leaders being invited to sign a Variety Bush Bash car.
When this car embarks on the next charity run, their names will travel around Australia.
