Burglars on the run

IT’S good news week for Wyndham as local crime statistics are at an all-time low this week.
Results from the weekly overview showed that most crimes in Wyndham dropped significantly compared to this time last year.
Inspector Damien Christensen said his team continued going about business as usual and provided great results.
“The results show me a lot of hard work is being done,” Insp Christensen said.
Insp Christensen said home burglaries especially showed record low results.
He said residential burglary is down 27.9 per cent from last year and general crimes against property dropped 19.3 per cent.
“That is a sign on what we’ve been able to achieve,” Insp Christensen said.
With almost 190,000 residents living in Wyndham, Insp Christensen said the average of home burglaries was significantly low.
“It’s not an epidemic, the results tell me it’s one person causing grief,” he said.
Theft from and of motor vehicles also dropped by 10.4 per cent and 11.7 per cent respectively in the area.
Insp Christensen said the police were always trying to better assist the community.
“We always look for ways of doing things better and we look for feedback from the community,” Insp Christensen said.
“We are an intelligence-based team and we look for intelligence from the community,” he said.
“We are getting better results as a consequence.”
