POINT COOK estate Saltwater Coast has become the first development in Melbourne’s West to achieve an EnviroDevelopment certificate from the Urban Development Institute of Australia.
UDIA, Australia’s peak representative body for the urban development industry, awarded the FKP master-planned community Saltwater Coast with the official certification last Tuesday.
The EnviroDevelopment certification recognised Saltwater Coast’s exceptional environmental sustainability achievements in four areas, including energy, water, ecosystems and community.
FKP Senior Development Manager Nathan Jenkinson said FKP was proud to achieve its EnviroDevelopment certification for Saltwater Coast.
“In each of our developments, FKP recognises the critical importance of both protecting the local environment and establishing a sense of community,” Mr Jenkinson said.
“Neighbouring the Port Phillip Bay and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar site, Saltwater Coast is a very special project for FKP and this has been reflected in our careful planning for the development.”
Saltwater Coast will also receive an EnviroDevelopment ‘leaf’ for each of the four areas.
The ‘leaf’ is the UDIA’s scientifically-based branding system which allows home buyers to select more environmentally sustainable homes and lifestyles.
Wyndham City Mayor Heather Marcus, who was also present at the official certification, said that Saltwater Coast was a quality example of development in Melbourne’s West, demonstrating a strong commitment to the community and protecting the local environment.
